In order to make a simple airplane that can fly far, up to 100 meters, you need:
- take a sheet of ordinary writing paper and fold it in half along the long side, which will give us the marking of the axis of the structure;
- Next, we unfold the sheet and apply its two corners to the center line;
- then bend the corners twice to the side of the resulting triangle;
- lay out the sheet and, using the resulting lines as markings, bend the corners towards the middle;
- We fold the sheet along the bends and open it again.
This completes the marking of the bend lines. Using the markings, we bend the corners, following the video instructions.

Scientists believe that the use of paper to create toys began 2000 years ago in China, where kites were invented. The modern paper airplane, according to one of the most popular versions, was invented (yes, yes, that’s right!) in 1930 by Jack Northrop, co-founder of Lockheed Corporation. Northrop used paper airplanes to test new ideas in the design of real airplanes.

In 1989, a certain Andy Chipling founded the Paper Airplane Association, and in 2006 the first paper airplane championship was held. The competition is held in three disciplines: the longest distance, the longest gliding and aerobatics - performing aerobatic maneuvers using paper models.

Numerous attempts to increase the time a paper airplane stays in the air from time to time lead to the breaking of new barriers in this sport. Ken Blackburn held the world record for 13 years (1983-1996) and won it again on October 8, 1998, by throwing a paper airplane indoors so that it stayed in the air for 27.6 seconds. This result was confirmed by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records and CNN reporters. The paper airplane used by Blackburn can be classified as a glider.

Although light paper airplanes are believed to fly further than heavy ones, this claim is disputed by Blackburn. Blackburn's world record-breaking airplane in 1983 was designed on the assumption that the best airplanes have short wings and are "heavy" during the launch phase when a person throws them into the air. Although longer wings and less weight would seem to help the airplane achieve longer flight times, such a paper airplane cannot be thrown high. According to Blackburn, “to achieve maximum altitude and a good transition to gliding flight, the throw should be made with a deviation from the vertical of no more than 10 degrees.”
It seems that every child and adult can master the technique of folding airplanes. The simplest methods were passed on from parent to child. But there are also more complex models for making paper flying figures, which are known to few. To fold the figures you do not need glue or additional materials. All you need to prepare is thick paper. If you have not yet encountered complex origami designs, then you should start with simple models.
Simple origami airplane model
- Take an A-4 sheet of paper and fold it in half.
- Fold the top corners of the resulting rectangle towards the center. Straighten the newly folded triangles and secure.
- Fold the obtuse corners of the resulting diamonds back.
- Fold the two side corners back, forming a regular triangle.
- Bend the workpiece and unscrew the wings.
- Bend the tips of the wings and insert them perpendicularly. You've got a fighter.
Paper fighters fly well, so you can launch your invention into the air.

Using the origami technique you can create flying airplanes. A simple design can also rise into the air, but there are plans for more impressive designs that can take more than an hour to fold.

- Fold the square first horizontally, then vertically. Expand the sheet.
- Fold the top towards the center.
- Fold in the top corners, but do not connect them in the center.
- Fold the corners back to form a triangle.

- Fold the right angle inward (step 7).
- Unfold the wings.

- Make bend lines for three corners of the rhombus: side and top.

- Turn the workpiece over and do the same on the reverse side.
- Fold the bottom corners of the diamond and connect them, tucking the tips of one into the pocket of the other.
- Move the upper triangles apart and secure. It is very important for children that the craft performs some kind of action. Therefore, the product must have wings to stay in the air.
- Fold the top layer of the bottom corner up. Bend the nose down, then back up.
- Turn the workpiece over and form a tail.
Such a swallow will be able to perform a relatively short flight. But you and your children will be fascinated by playing with paper birds. Try to make a lot of swallows with your child and organize a large-scale flight to the south. The child will benefit from such an activity in many ways: developing finger motor skills, physical activity during play, and strengthening relationships with parents. - 1 and 2 – The sheet is bent 4 times.

Making a plane with a long flight

Place the A4 sheet landscape-style and mark the middle with a fold. Design the wings according to Figures 1 and 4.

Making a glider
A glider is a model for tricks and so that a paper airplane can perform interesting tricks and flips, here is the way:
Fast flying origami airplane
A fast plane will turn out like this: using the points already known to you, we make preparations. Unbend the sides, then remove the flaps from the outer and back sides inward. Then the wings are made.
Wings: first down, then perpendicular. Bend down the anti wings.

Idea: To make your origami plane even more reactive, attach a propeller to it. Don't worry, it won't be heavy because it's made from the same material. It will be completely clear from the photo.
Turn the left corner to the right. Bend it in half again and return it back. Do the same with the right corner.

In order to fold an airplane with good aerodynamic properties from a sheet of paper, you can use a variety of schemes. There are very simple schemes, and there are also quite complex ones. To make some airplanes, it is advisable to use cardboard or thick paper, while for others it is better to take a thin and soft sheet of paper. Some paper airplanes can fly in a curved path, while some can only fly straight.
WE MAKE A SIMPLE AIRPLANE OUT OF PAPER. EVEN A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD CAN MAKE THIS FLYING CRAFTS:
Place a sheet of thick A4 paper in front of you. Fold the top corners of the short side of the sheet at an angle of 45 degrees to the center of the sheet. Be sure to place the sides close to each other in the middle of the sheet of paper.
Then, where the folded corners end, fold a sheet of paper along the line (across). The folds should be inside. Then we fold the corners towards the center, as if slightly obliquely, so that they are on the line of symmetry of the craft. We wrap the triangle that appears under the folded corners upward in order to make a clamp for the wings of the airplane.
Then fold the figure in half lengthwise - there should be folds on the outside. On each side we bend the wing of the airplane towards the center. The wings should form an angle of 90 degrees with respect to the body of the homemade airplane.
NOW LET'S TRY TO MAKE A MORE COMPLEX FLYING AIRPLANE - THE "ARROW" TYPE
In this option, the paper sheet should be placed with the long side facing you, and then folded in half lengthwise. Next, fold the corners of our plane 3 times to the edges. Each time you need to fold it so that the angle after the next laying is reduced by half. It’s not that difficult - each time you need to fold the corners to the bottom edge of the paper plane so that the lines coincide. Laying the corners a third time, bend them back to 90 degrees so that the result is the wings of our fighter plane.
