Egg applique. Eggshell applique. II. Preparation of practical work

Many centuries ago, Chinese and Vietnamese lacquer artists came up with a wonderful idea - to use eggshells for their miniatures. Craftsmen have noticed: thin cracks that form when you press on its surface create a beautiful pattern that resembles a cracked rock, a wall that has not been painted for a long time, or an ancient fresco.

Eastern masters turned the main drawback of eggshells - fragility - into its greatest value and began to use egg shells in the image of various buildings and trees.

This is how the technique appeared crackle- creating a pattern of cracks with an antique effect. And the cracks themselves that form on the surface, regardless of the material used to make the mosaic, began to be called craquelure.

Let's imagine ourselves at least for a moment as talented oriental craftsmen and try to make an Easter fresco. Eggshell mosaic is a wonderful craft for a school exhibition and a great souvenir for a friend for Easter.

You will need:

  • eggshell,
  • paper napkin with a pattern,
  • PVA glue,
  • brush, sponge,
  • sheet of paper for drawing,
  • cardboard sheet,
  • watercolor paints,
  • oil crayons,
  • soda and salt.

1. To prepare the shell for fresco, soak it for 30 minutes in 500 ml of water and add a spoonful of salt and the same amount of soda.

Remove the shell from the water and remove the thin white film underneath - this will make it easier to grind the mosaic material.

2. Choose an Easter-themed napkin, unfold it and cut out ¼, that is, one full-fledged drawing. I chose a napkin with a bunny and his mother. Now cut a sheet of cardboard according to the size of the napkin and generously coat it with PVA glue.

3. Glue the eggshell to the cardboard, carefully pressing it against the surface of the workpiece.

The shells should cover the entire area of the future fresco.

4. Did you do it? Wonderful! Now take a sponge and lightly press it against the shell-covered surface - this way you will remove excess glue and make the workpiece more uniform.

5. Take the cut out part of the napkin and separate its top layer with the pattern.

6. Carefully glue the napkin to the workpiece. Lightly press the pattern on top with a sponge to create irregularities characteristic of an eggshell.

The fresco is ready, but if you want to frame it, glue the picture to a piece of drawing paper and decorate it to your taste.

That's it! An Easter mosaic made from eggshells will make your holiday brighter and will certainly attract the admiring glances of your guests.

Lesson progress

I. Introductory conversation

Today, guys, we have an unusual labor lesson. In this lesson we will do some appliqué. And the unusual thing about this lesson is that in addition to the main material that is familiar to us, there will be new material that we have not worked with yet.

What can the applique be made from? (Paper, scraps of fabric, leaves and plant seeds)

Right. We have already worked with these materials. We see samples of your work, using the materials you have already named, at the “Crazy Hands” stand.

I want to add some mystery to the lesson, and therefore I will not say what new material we will work with today, you will learn about it later.

And now we will go on a hike to a very beautiful place. To do this, you need to get up: and go!

First we will walk through the meadow.

1 slide: "Meadow with a walking girl"

Then we'll walk through the forest.

Slide 2: “Forest” + click “Forest and children”

There are branches along the way, carefully remove them to the side.

(children make movements to the teacher’s words)

And so we came to a beautiful place, guess which one:

Young birch trees
His own in front of him
Correcting hairstyles
And the month and the stars
It reflects
What is this mirror called? (Lake)

Slide 3: "Lake"

Take your seats. We are taking a break and will just watch.

Guys, we see a wonderful bird on the lake: This is: (Swan)

II. Preparation of practical work

Slide 4: "Swan on the Lake"

Right. Guys, swans have always been the most popular among people. This is not surprising - a strong bird, a symbol of beauty and fidelity. In fairy tales of various nations you can often find the plot of a bird turning into a girl. Who can remember such a fairy tale and its author? (A.S. Pushkin “The Tale of Tsar Saltan:”)

Slide 5: picture "The Tale of Tsar Saltan"

The great Russian composer - Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky:

Slide 6: portrait of the composer

He even composed a large piece of music about the beauty of these birds - a ballet called “Swan Lake”.

Slide 7: ballet "Swan Lake" with music

This ballet is considered the best in the world. In the picture you see only a fragment from the ballet.

Swans are birds from the duck family.

Slide 8: "Swan" picture

Swans have a very long neck, an elongated body, and a medium-sized head. The beak is equal in length to the head - straight and wide. Chicks and young swans are brownish-gray; they turn white only after a few years. They live on lakes and ponds. Swans live long, up to 30-40 years. These are cautious and intelligent birds. They swim well, but do not dive. They take off with difficulty, but fly quickly. They walk poorly and rarely go onto land. Swans are listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest flying birds. Swans live in pairs.

Slide 9: "A pair of swans"

Such couples live together all their lives. The nest is built large - about 1 meter wide and about 70 centimeters high.

Slide 10: "Nest and swans"

The female builds the nest, and the male drags materials for construction. The nest can support the weight of an adult.

Guys, let's turn into swans for a while and relax.

III. Phys. just a minute

IV. Carrying out practical work

So, guys, let's start working, and since we will work, you can even say create with our hands, then let's prepare our hands.

Phys. a moment for your hands

Our hands are not simple, our hands are like that!
If you squeeze them into a fist, you get a hammer
Tok-tok hammer, that’s our hammer.

Many people like the beauty that they see in a swan, and therefore, to keep this beauty close by, many make a swan with their own hands from various materials.

Slide 11: "Swan from the Wheel"

And also made of paper (show), and here are swans made at the factory from glass (show).

And we will do applique.

Since we will be working with glue, we will wear aprons.

You have blue cardboard on your tables. Why do you think this color is? (water)

We will make a water border from paper of a different shade of blue (show)

Since we are going to work with scissors, let's remember safety precautions. (children's answers)

Cutting out the waves

Glue it

The main character of our picture, of course, will be the swan. Place the bird in the center (working with templates)

We have a silhouette of a swan, let's try to depict a swan.

Stretch your neck up and slightly forward, straighten your back, bring your shoulder blades together. Lift your chin. You see, we have a proud posture, like a swan.

Guys, that piece of paper that is inside the outline needs to be filled out. Now you can guess what material we will fill it with.

It might break
It might get cooked
And if he wants, he will hit the bird
It may turn. (Egg)

Slide 12: "Egg with chicken"

Right. But we need eggshells. But she needs to be prepared. It needs to be chopped into small equal pieces.

Safety rules when working with eggshells:

Guys, you need to be careful when working with shells. It is thin but sharp. Therefore, try not to touch the sharp edges of the shell.

1) The teacher distributes the shells on a piece of paper.

Cover this sheet with another sheet.

2) - Press down with a pencil or pen and roll it over the sheet like a rolling pin.

These pieces of shell will be the material for the final design of the swan. But for now, let's put our shell aside.

Guys, what is missing on our lake? (Plants)

That’s right, reeds grow along the shores of lakes.

Slide 13: "Reeds"

Which serves to build a nest. Let's place the reeds in our picture.

Now comes the most important part of our work. The piece of paper that ends up inside the outline of the swan figure must be covered with egg crumbs.

1) - Spread the silhouette with glue (demonstration)

2) - Sprinkle the silhouette with shells (show)

3) - Gently shake off the excess from the sheet.

Set the application aside to dry.

V. Checkpoint (Result)

What new technology did you learn about in class? ( Eggshell applique)

Who is the central figure of our application? (Swan)

IV. Cleaning the workplace. Saving the product

The finished applique must be placed in an album so that it does not wrinkle.

Get your workspace in order.

The remaining eggshells should be wiped off with a cloth onto a piece of paper and thrown into a bucket.

On thick paper, draw a picture that will be laid out with the shell. Cover a small part of the design with glue. Place a piece of shell on the smeared area of the design and lightly press it onto the glue. The shell will crack, creating a mesh pattern. Apply glue to the next area and stick on a suitable piece of shell.

So fill the entire drawing. The shells should be placed as close to one another as possible, trying not to go beyond the boundaries of the picture.

The gaps that remain between the shells are filled at the end of the work. Select small shells according to the size and shape of the gaps, apply glue to the empty spaces with a thin brush, and carefully apply pieces of shell with tweezers. It is not necessary to fill in very small areas in the application, but during further work you can simply mix small particles of shell with glue and fill in tiny gaps with this mixture.

Allow the application to dry and paint over it, taking care to cover all the small cracks. Leave to dry. After the paint has completely dried, begin sanding. There are several options here - you can highlight individual places or heavily sand the entire design so that the paint remains only in the cracks. It all depends on the effect you want to achieve. Cut out the finished figurine, you can glue it or attach a mount on the back side and hang it.

If your child is a creative person and loves to create different kinds of crafts from improvised materials, invite him to make a mosaic from eggshells. This activity develops fine motor skills and develops in children the habit of being diligent, which is undoubtedly a huge plus for young schoolchildren. Creating mosaics will be interesting not only for girls, but also for boys, if you choose the right picture.

In order to do this shell craft, you will need the simplest materials:

Shells from raw eggs.

PVA glue.

Any drawing.

Acrylic paints.

Fig.1 Eggshell mosaic

Eggshell mosaics there are two types:

1. The first, the simplest and most suitable for little craft lovers, is when the eggshell, after gluing it onto the main drawing, is painted in different colors using acrylic paints. Or when the shell is painted before gluing it to the surface. This way the main background of the image can be preserved.

Fig.2 Eggshell mosaic

2. The second method is more complex and is suitable for older children. In this case, shells of different natural shades are taken. This creates a mosaic of eggshells in pastel colors. It turns out very beautiful.

Fig.3 Eggshell mosaic in natural colors

Instructions for making a mosaic from eggshells.

1. First you need to prepare the shell.

1.1. Carefully break the raw eggs into two parts and immerse them in cold water for 10-15 minutes.

1.2. Then we remove the film from the inside of the shell, after which we dry it well.

As mentioned earlier, you can paint the shell at the very end, after gluing it onto the images.

2. When the egg shells are prepared, you can start choosing a design. It is recommended to select images with large details and clear outlines. It is much more convenient for children to glue over fragments with clearly visible edges.

Fig.4 Eggshell mosaic in the shape of a butterfly

3. After the drawing is selected, it needs to be pasted onto a cardboard surface or transferred using carbon paper. This is done so that the surface on which it will be glued eggshell mosaic did not swell or deform.

4. When the drawing and eggshell are prepared for work, you can proceed directly to gluing the mosaic. To do this, apply PVA glue to a small fragment of the image.

5. Then take a large piece of egg shell and gently crush it on a flat surface. This way the mosaic details will be most suitable for each other. They should be glued with a slight indentation from each other (about 1 millimeter). For convenience, it is recommended to use tweezers and a thin wooden stick. With their help it is much easier to pick up and move fragments eggshell mosaics.
